Overview

The main draw of Sringara, the gondola-type rowboats – Shikaras are used by the tourists to see attractions like the Floating Vegetable Market, and the Mir Bahris – a lively community of people who live on the lake itself. Known as the summer capital of Jammu & Kashmir, Srinagar is home to some of the most exquisite Mughal-age gardens in India, with the top attractions being Nishat Bagh, Shalimar Bagh and Chashm-E-Shahi Garden.

Kashmiri cuisine is famous all over the globe, so when in Srinagar, trying out the local dishes, which are rich in unique fragrant spices, is a must. Srinagar is also famous for the Kashmiri shawls, Kashmiri apples and the dried fruits (almonds and walnuts) which can be bought from the Lal Chowk Market.

Itinerary

Day 1
Jammu to Pahalgam

On arrival at Jammu railway station our representative will receive you and escort to Pahalgam.
To reach Pahalgam you have to drive on beautiful hilly road, NH 1 near about 300km. There are many tourist spots on the way, Patnitop, Kud and many more.
On reaching Pahalgam check in Hotel.

Day 2
Pahalgam

Pahalgam is located in the South of Kashmir, From Srinagar it will pass through the famous Saffron fields at Pampour, Sulphur springs, Mattan Temple at Anantnag and peep at the historical Ruins of Awantipura (where according to Hindu mythology, Pandavas had spent their time after losing their kingdom). As you will approach the Pahalgam, music of water gushing from the Lidder stream will fill your ears. It is an occasion when one’s soul is filled with peace. You may not help yourself in falling in love with the nature. It is Kashmir’s most popular resort and it is also base camp for Annual Amarnath Yatra. Some of the places will look familiar to you, as they have been captured in various famous films like Silsila, Betab, Karma, etc.

ARU: This village resort is connected by 11 km motor able road from Pahalgam
BETAB VALLEY: Famous for film shootings is a plain scenic spot amidst pine trees 3 kms on Chandanwari ,Base Camp for Annual Amarnath Yatra, road.
BAISARAN: This popular picnic spot 4 kms from Pahalgam has meadows, pine trees with streams flowing through it.
SHIKARGAH: A wild life reserve at a close distance.
MAMAL TEMPLE: An 11th. Century temple on the right bank of Lidder has a Shivlinga with a spring rising from there.
FRISLAN: Famous spot for trout fishing at a distance of 7 km.
¬KOLAHAI GLACIERS: At an altitude of 3400 m and 36 km trek from Pahalgam via Liderwat en route to the 5300m Kolahai peak (one of the highest peaks in Kashmir)
TARSAR & MARSAR LAKES: These twin lakes situated at 3788 and 3794 mt respectively can be covered by 3 days trek via liderwat
TULIAN LAKE: At an altitude of3353 meters is a full day trek via Baisaran. The steep terrains lead to a magically crystal clear lake where one would love to stay for a longer time.

Day 4
Srinagar

Have your breakfast leisurely. To day you are going to visit world famous Mughal Gardens.

Day 5
Srinagar to Sonmarg

After breakfast leave for a visit to Sonmarg. Sonmarg, translates into meadow of gold” because of the local yellow crocus bloom in the spring season .It is the farthest excursion spot from Srinagar passing through the spectacularly beautiful Sindh valley, picturesque villages presenting the glimpses of Kashmir’s Countryside. It is surrounded by pine trees and mountain cliffs which offer mind boggling possibilities for mountaineers. Sonmarg is also famous for its rock climbing sites, alpine skiing and Trout fishing in the roaring river Sindh. It also serves as base camp for Annual Amarnath Yatra from the Baltal route, “Gateway to Ladakh”.

SIGHT SEEING AT SONAMARG (for information)
THAJWAS GLACIER(3Km)
A Marvel of Nature, the everlasting Thajwas glacier provides a golden opportunity for visitors to enjoy snow even during summer. It has attractive walks and treks. Pony ride is enjoyable. There are marvelous camp sites in this area, hence, prime location for School camps and trekkers.
GANGABAL LAKE (HARAMUKH GANGA)
Kashmiri Pandits have been holding Gangabal sacred for centuries. The track from Sonamarg to Gangabal Lake offers prospect for hiking amid incredible scenery while passing through Nichnai Pass, Lakes Vishansarand Krishansar which are ideal for fishing.
NARANAG RUINS (50 km)
In the West of Kangan on Srinagar-Sonamarg road are the ancient ruins of temples believed to have been built in 3rd century by Jaluka, son of Emperor Ashoka wheras the Vishnu temple at the site is said to be constructed by King lalit yaditya Muktapidya.

Day 6
Sonmarg to Srinagar.

Checking in deluxe houseboat. Have a shikara ride.While Shikara Ride on the placid waters of the Dal Lake you will enjoy fusion of God’s nature Zaberwan Hills reflected in the beautiful waters of the 25 square kilometer lake. The evening will end with a stay in the houseboat where you will get the taste of the best of the Kashmiri traditions where the small waves hitting the houseboat will act as a lullaby.

Day 7
Srinagar to Gulmarg.

After check out proceed for Gulmarg. On reaching Gulmarg check in hotel.

Gulmarg – The Switzerland of Asia. This picturesque tourist spot is agog with activities round the year. While the lush green meadows in summer will be a treat to your eyes, so will the snowfall of winters have a soothing effect on your heart and mind. Gulmarg has one of the best Ski slopes in the world and has 18 hole Golf course which is highest in the world at the altitude of 2370 mts. Historically it is said that it was favorite spot for Emperor Jahangir Those interested in catching the nature at a height can take a cable car ride (Gondola). PLACES OF INTREST AT GULMARG (for information)
Gulmarg has been one of the favorite spots for film shootings and hundreds of successful movies have been shot here. It has Rani Temple and an old Saint Mary’s Church atop a meadow hill. A children’s park and a lake developed recently have become a major draw.
KHILAN MARG
6 Km from Gulmarg an uphill journey through beautiful pine forests gets rewarded with a magnificent view and the presence of snow even during summer. It can be reached by taking a pony ride or cable car.
ALPATHAR LAKE
A magnificent lake at an altitude of3 850 mtrs and 13 km. from Gulmarg via Khilanmarg is rare experience.

Day 8
Gulmarg to Patnitop

After early breakfast checkout and leave for another hill station, Patnitop in the Jammu region. Check in hotel
In the evening enjoy cool breezes of forest around your hotel.

Day 9
Departure

As per your train timing prepare for departure for your onward destination.
